बालकनी - The Balcony

This poem is for a wonderful couple.. I am sure both of them would very much relate to it. Long live fantasies of their unbound love in their balcony.

Sorry, no picture for Hindi version. Let the imagination take on its wings.

Attempted Translation:-

That balcony which is ours, ours alone..
is witness to new diurnals of
some tales, memories and some dreams
that belong to us, to us alone.

Time, like fragrant heaving breaths
stops sometimes, races sometimes
challenging our carnal and stubborn love.

Hands that feel you
heartbeats that keep mounting,
embraces that tighten
burning lips that lock themselves.

And that impish moon peeping behind the lone tree
narrates a live commentary to the stars.
Rest of the story will be recounted tomorrow
by that hesitant shy crumpled bed-linen,
the broken bangles, kohl stains and those dried flowers.

Privy to our secrets, the mischievous balcony
waits sniggering, smiling for yet another night
to peek, peep & eavesdrop stealthily..
the same affection, same coquetry,
same intoxication & same pure love

that belong to us, just us.

    Beautiful.
    और पेड़ के पीछे से झांकता चाँद
    आँखों देखा हाल सुनाता तारों को

really loved these lines. Aap to professional hoti ja rahee hain. If you keep writing thigs like this, then wickets are bound to fall. Ismien us baechare ki kya galti. lolz

Waise why is it that love poems are somehow incomplete without the “Chaand” (moon).

the english translations of any poem can never capture the mood and the angst of the original. this is proven even in your poem, even though you yuorself have written the english translation!

i think everybody would agree that you can now officialy be called a ‘kaviyatri’ or a ‘poetess’ (is there a word like that?)

No photo for the Hindi version. Pardon me, but ROTFL. :)) :)) :))

Let the imagination take on its wings!!

But seriously, do you want to translate the photo as well?? :) (Can’t stop that grin…) Or do you think people who’d start reading the Hindi version would have the photo vanish from the English version immediately?

I wonder how did I miss the footnote there.

Sorry folks. This is what happens if one keeps getting comments on at least 10 different posts. I think I have around 50 to reply to. :(
