October - A Month of Celebrations

There are a few things happening.. all of which can not be revealed at this point of time. Will share with you when time comes.
I’ll mention a few small things though.

As some of you might know I write for a few community blogs (of course for free). Mutiny, where I am a contributing writer, has gone into print. Yes, that’s right. The hard copy which you can feel in your hands and smell its fresh pages is out now. The first issue has hit the stands and my article on Sex Education was a part of it.
You can see the newspaper here and also subscribe to it.

On travel front, I am glad I am able to guide & help some people on their travel related queries & plans.
And one thing which I wanted to show you for long but missed because then my camera was in service center and I couldn’t click a photo of it. Later it got postponed inadvertently. Actually, it was quite some months back. :D

Look at this nice T-shirt. Isn’t it good ?? Well, it is a gift to me.

This is the first physical thing that I have received because of my blogging, my presence in this virtual world and thus will always have a special place in my memory. When it arrived along with a card on hand made paper, I had a strange nice feeling. And after that I have received many materialistic things besides of course immense love from you all. :D

No, no, it was not Google AdSense. They don’t make much sense to me and I don’t think they give T-shirts to their customers. This T-shirt is a memento given to me from somebody whom I have not seen or spoken to. I don’t know much about the person; but we both share a passion.. .. Passion to travel. He is owner of a travel site and I am one of the travel authors there.

For months my article “Walk in the rain” was at the top of the chart for most viewed article. Now I think it has been promoted to ‘Hall of fame’. :P Right Nandan ? The site was celebrating its first birthday and so the gift.

Thank you Nandan for this fine gesture on your part, I’ll continue to write and share my sweet & sour experiences with you and your innumerable readers.

I have also been approached by a few more but lack of time does not allow me to take all that comes my way. Right now writing for some international projects is my priority.
Slowly it seems I am carving a niche for myself in this world. I was pleasantly surprised when some of my articles were picked up by Google news, Beijing news, Reuters and such.

Innumerable times I have been asked, bullied and blackmailed ;) by my beloved readers to write on how to have a popular blog. Popular ? No, my blog is not popular but successful. Successful in the sense that it satisfies the primal need of a place to vent out my thoughts.

Well readers, I have no expertise on this but together we can share and learn whatever little we know on this subject. So, I’ll be writing a series of a few small posts to list simple things which can help us do better.

Following my interview by David McMahon, I am again reminded to take some. Remember I had taken some interesting interviews last year ? I’ll be doing that again starting with those who have been waiting for more than a year. Let me see, what all I can do. Phew !!

Got to go now, wish you all a Happy Dussera and Happy Diwali (this is in advance in case I forget ;) ).

Thanks for featuring the T-Shirt. It also happens to be the first digital photo of the T-Shirt :) and a first mention of it being there, since there was no news about it at http://www.ghumakkar.com.

We did this as a small token of appreciation for all the authors who wrote during its first year.

Thanks again Cuckoo and all the best.

    Vagabond,
    Thank you.
Celebrity blog ? You know how to make fun of me, eh ?

Well, it was nothing great. I think people would have been searching to go a place and must have landed on my article. :D

    It is here http://www.ghumakkar.com/2008/06/21/a-walk-in-the-rain-kolad/
but I think my latest article is much better there. My personal view. :)

BTW, you can find all these articles (more or less similarly worded) on my travel blog. That’s my first priority before giving any article to anyone.

    Keep smiling. :)

I was away for a couple of days. A lot to read and check now … and your latest post is so rich, with so many links! I agree with you that blogging can give you a lot of satisfaction, an important part being friendship you create with some. I have now been fortunate to meet a number, also physically … and I expect more visitors! I hope that one day we will also meet, not only by a distant interview!

Hmm.. I checked up your profile/travel reports from ghumakkar.com…where all you guys(authors) have put up nice write ups along with photographs as well..!

ok..may I know(out of curiosity) are you rishi valley product ? & which schooling enabled you master eight languages.. :)

    Ok…All the best…have fun & keep blogging !

    Abhijit,
    Thanks a lot.
Well my camera had refused to focus. :P While in Goa I think it took bath in sea water once. So after that focusing wasn’t working… not even a single bit. Do they mix alcohol in sea water ? ;)

There are only 2 service centers in Mumbai… Tardeo & Mulund. I got it done at Mulund. But man, another 1000 bucks and I would have bought a new one. They had to import the part.

    Arvind,
Man, you are something !! :D

You made me rush to Ghumakkar site at this hour to check if my photo is still there. Thank God, it isn’t there now. You saw my photo there ? :D

No, I am not a Rishi Valley product.. If you go thru my posts here, you’ll come to know a lot more about me. Me a pakka Delhite. :P

And shhhh… keep quiet. You know a secret now. Till date no one has asked me this. Schooling didn’t teach me those, traveling did. :P
