A City Under Well Planned Attack
Note:- Read and participate in discussion here what steps we can take to come out of this situation to take India further.
It is yet another attack on the nation. In one of the most shocking terrorist attacks in the recent history, the terrorists have attacked Mumbai at several places.

Hotel Taj as seen from a boat - Photo copyright : Cuckoo
• A ship brought the terrorists in and off-loaded them in small speed boats. They got off at Koliwada, a fishermen’s colony in Colaba with large bags full of ammunitions and then spread out in sets of two’s. After offloading, the ship went back in the direction of Karachi, Pakistan. The ship is being chased by Indian Navy helicopters.
• All major landmarks attacked
• Hotels, hospitals, cinema halls, railway stations…
• First attack at around 10 PM yesterday
• Blown up a petrol pump in Colaba
• Hijacked police van, Qualis as well and fired from this moving vehicle.
• Holed up in Hotel Oberoi and Hotel Taj mahal
• All the terrorists have AK-47 and other ammunitions.
• As per the latest around 40 hostages are held and being asked if they belong to USA or England. Some Brazilians are also held hostage.
• Army, CRPF and Navy moved to the attack sites.
• NSG Commando operation is on in Taj Hotel and Oberoi hotel.
• The raging fire in Taj Hotel since night and fire brigade desperately trying to control
• The innocent people from these hotels are being have been evacuated to safer places in ambulances.

• Platform no. 1 and 4 of VT station experienced the gruesome shootings by these maniacs which opened fire randomly at the passengers.
• Cafe Leopold also attacked probably because of no. of foreigners visiting it?
Cafe Leopold, Colaba - Photo copyright : Cuckoo
• As per the latest, more then 700 injured and 100+ killed
• 11 policemen killed, 5 terrorists killed, 9 nabbed
• Blood is needed in large quantity
• Schools & colleges are closed today
• No trading today in stock exchanges - NSE and BSE
• The cars terrorists have used bear nos. MH01 ZA103 & MH01 BA5179
• As per the latest, the army has moved in for final assault after NSG commandos fail to bring out the holed terrorists.
• Rest of two ODI matches between India & England cancelled, England team returns home, will come back for 1st Test in Ahmedabad.
Never seen such a terrible situation where policemen are on the roads with revolvers in their hands checking every vehicle and some distance away young, well dressed and educated looking terrorists firing at innocent people from a hijacked police vehicle !!
Where are we heading to ? Is there any end ?

This the first news I read and saw this morning when I woke. And the first thing that i said was “What the F$%#”. Called back home to check everyone was fine. Thankfully everyone was fine. I was totally depressed, disappointed and agitated. Whats wrong with our country and this beautiful city. Sad for the brave people who laid their lives saving others… heartfelt prayers to those who wont be with us to see a better, stronger, more vibrant, more determined and a prosperous India… Yes I am optimist, we will fight these rogues and root them out of our beautiful land.

I was shocked when I switched on the TV in the morning today. Earlier I thought that maybe they are showing about a past bombing but the breaking news section gave it out.
This is really gruesome. I think 2008 has the most number of bombings in india. How r people to be safe? since most of the recent attacks were on weekends between 6 and 7, we had decided to not venture out at these times. now this has become a regular feature. does this mean we keep to our homes, never venture out.
one of the terrorists had worn the sacred thread on his wrists, typical of hindus. Maybe he wanted to camouflage in the crowd. Or may be it was just a political gimmic to show that it is the others who terrorise and innocent hindus are arrested.

It is really not a nice thing to get up to such news! But even more worse is that there seems to be no end to terrorism…

I have been following it since last night till about early morning. And it still continues… appalling!! What bugs me is a bunch of terrorists are holding out the army, NSG and all for so long… Just goes to show the kind of strategic planning done by the rogues!!

This is a very sad situation. Our intelligence systems completely failed. I don’t know what answer our government going to give for this one.
We lost many lives including some policemen. Whoever dreamt of this kind of attack? It’s time for our leaders to take strigent actions instead of making some statements like ‘It’s an attack on the nation’ or ‘It’s beyond politics’.

Let this be a reminder to those who still believe the war on terror dosen’t exist. We live in very difficult times and good will prevail over evil.

Where is the MNS now?? Hiding in their homes like rats. Bloody eunuchs. When it comes to hurting innocents, they are no. 1, but when faced with real trouble, they hide. WHere are they now?????

…some distance away young, well dressed and educated looking terrorists…
Of course they are educated, they could not have planned such a huge catastrophe otherwise. But education doesn’t stop them from doing what they are doing. There are more powerful and better ‘educators’ out there who influence educated youth to such an extent that they get so dedicated to these acts of terrorism.

Rahi,
Well, we can not just sit like this. We’ll have to start the change.
It is clear now, all the terrorists were Pakis. That red thing on his wrist must be a band.
Sharad,
Thanks.

Ashes,
There are more powerful and better ‘educators’ out there who influence educated youth to such an extent that they get so dedicated to these acts of terrorism… Yes, yesterday I was listening to one of the experts in internal security and what he said was sometimes these trainees are even drugged for long so that they get into the ‘right frame of mind’.
And I do not have any reasons to disbelieve him.
David,
Thanks.
And thanks for writing that personal mail as well.
Indrani,
Yes, I am safe and so are others but how long ?

Terrorists have no religion; their profession of any faith demonstrates the hypocrisy of their belief – no major religion supports violence or senseless killing of innocent people. The almost 400 people, injured or killed in the cold blooded killings at Mumbai’s train station, hotels, and Nariman House, represent many religions and cultures.
Each individual has the power to change themselves; if individuals condemn terrorism in all forms, such ghastly acts could not be concealed behind religious facades. The perpetrators should be treated as criminals and terrorists, and that is what they are.
