Raj Bhaiyya, we all miss you !
1. Where is Raj Thackeray and his brave sena? Tell him that 200 NSG commandos from Delhi (not marathi manoos) have been sent to mumbai to fight the terror.
2. pl forward raj thakre’s phone number if u find it. Don’t know where he is when you need him. We want him to go and save amchi mumbai along with his MNS goondas
3. ‘THE’ sons of the soil Army, NSG commandos are not marathis manoos … why should they fight or lay their life for mumbaikars…because they are Indians.
4. NSG Commandos - North Indians and South Indians have come to Mumbai so that Raj Thakre can sleep peacefully. Pl forward this so that it finally reaches the coward bully!
Do you see anything wrong with these SMS’s ?
These SMS’s was forwarded to me by my Marathi colleague and we all, including him, had a good hearty laugh.
But some Maharashtrians branded these SMS’s a hate campaign against Maharashtra and Maharashtrians. I think these people though they may not support Raj, do not see clear cowardice and hypocrisy on part of him and take this message as demeaning against whole of Maharashtra.
According to them this is all ‘communal’ at a time when our country is suffering from a crisis.
Let me tell you dear friends, our country was suffering even when Raj bhaiyya’s MNS goondas were killing innocent, armless and poor ‘north Indians’. Even then our country was bleeding and even then it was a crisis. The country does not suffer only when we are attacked by an outer source but also when attacked by our own brothers.
I am sorry, none of us found these SMS’s offensive. I never felt this against any common man of Maharashtra, instead against people like Raj T Raj bhaiyya and his supporters.
We saw it as an awakening call for Raj Thakeray and his supporters by venting out freshly hurt sentiments. It is any day better than killing people and burning buses.
But since yesterday one SMS has been taking round which supposedly is sent by MNS people. I immediately deleted it but it was something like
“Had migrants from other states not come to Mumbai, it would have been easier for Mumbai police to handle the current situation”.
Now, this is what I call provocative & full of hatred. What do you say ??
Bhaiyya - elder brother
Goonda - ruffian
Note:- I have decided to call Raj Thackeray as Raj bhaiyya giving him due respect of an elder brother as per the north Indian culture.

I think, we have a bigger threat at any given time with us in the form of some the politicians and a challenge in terms of identifying the required political leadership for our state/nation. And whatever happened not just in Mumbai but India the political leadership should be held responsible. Perhaps these politicians are always in the news/media and get the publicity for no good reasons. They are hungry for what not guess innocent lives of their own country men. Their highly indifferent attitude, negligence on duty, lack of knowledge on critical situations in the country and above all the inability to take sensible decisions for what we see could have prevented these kind of situations at first hand. For example, the top ministers of the state are like hopeless jerks; they even don’t know how disgustingly they handle media & pass information, totally out of focus. And as said, now citizens have a bigger challenge to face in terms of identifying the right leadership. We must not let down while exercising ‘the power of vote’.
We (as the citizen) of this country stand together and have to make note of only one thing that we must not forget what took the lives of thousands of innocents? And the candle we light should burn until whatever it takes from us to accomplish our tasks to fight against anyone and it’s not just about those terrorists. As you have rightly pointed out The country does not suffer only when we are attacked by an outer source but also when attacked by our own brothers.

And once again, I will have to say it to you - You just said what I wanted to say.
Terrorists - or Absolutists like the Shiv Sena - they are just the same thing. They exist because of each other.
The terrorist finds the act of blowing up people or using guns glorious. It’s like a “duty” he’s doing to his “community”. Isn’t this the same mentality with which the Shiv Sena and absolutists operate? It’s just that their enemies are different.
However, I still dislike these SMSes or accusations against Raj Thackarey. Why bring him or the Shiv Sena into the picture at all? Why expect them to do anything?
Those believing in them will find an excuse for continuing to believe in them, for they are Absolutists at the core. We do not need to “convert” them or “reveal their true side” to the world through their action (the lack of it) during crisis.
We know what they are, we know that they will never win, because they do not respect the fact that people have a will or a mind of their own. They think people need to be told what to do because they don’t follow what they believe in.
They are absolutists precisely because they have no self-respect. If they respected their culture, they would not need to force it upon others. If they respected their culture themselves, they would have been satisfied in themselves following it and wouldn’t have cared if someone else is following it or not.
Same goes for the terrorists. Just that instead of culture, they want to make their presence felt by causing harm to others. If they had any sense, they wouldn’t have cared about their “presence” and invested in the betterment of their own people instead of spending so much in organising such well-planned attacks.

wat do i say about this ? that u r right and u wrote wat was on my mind ? the problem is cuckoo, the very same people who have been circulating these sms’ will vote for somebody of their own region/caste/religion disregarding whether that person is even basically qualified to hold a ‘public service’ post.
no amount of mass protests or sms campaign will work until and unless each and every individual realizes his/her own duty to weed out these elements from our polity.

I cant believe someone would actually say this after the sad tragedy that just took place. Hateful, indeed. And shameful. You would think that an incident like this would serve to unite Indians and not divide them.

Yes, I am offended by these SMSes not because it is anti Raj/ MNS.Like all of you, I have been following the news on the terror attacks since Wednesday. In fact, when we heard of it, my wife(who is a die-hard Maharashtrian), was the first one to ask me..”Where is Raj Thackery and what is he doing for Mumbai?”. Yes, we had a hearty laugh on that as well. But what really has annoyed me is the mention of the term ‘marathi manoos’ in these idiotic messages which have been doing the rounds..
1) Who is the genius who claims that the NSG/ Army or any armed forces do not include Maharashtrians? Do you know the names of all the commandos who fought bravely against this attack? Does the NSG allow only North Indians/ South Indians in it??
2) How do you claim that people from Delhi cam in to save Mumbai?? Only because the NSG is based in Delhi?? Let me introduce you to the fact that the NSG flew in from Delhi only coz it is based there. And it is based there (and no where else) only coz our useless and shameles politicians are in Delhi.
3) Before the NSG came in, didnt the Mumbai Police who consists of almost 95% ‘marathi manoos’ fight against the terrorists for Mumbaikars lives?? Who were the 14 policemen who had to lose their lives due to third grade safety equipment?
I can understand your anger against Raj and his men for their attitude and stand against North Indians, but let me tell you that by forwarding and publicizing these stupid messages, you are only giving him the publicity that he needs. Yes, poke fun at him, call him Raj bhaiyya or whatever you want to, ridicule him.. why only him, but all the politicians. but dare you say that North/South Indians saved the city and the Maharashtrians were simply watching the fun.
Finally this operation according to me was to save the country and not a particular city/ people from any particular state. Did the commandos come here to prove to Raj and his men that he was wrong in his stand? Does the NSG approve the above statements doing the rounds?
I am really surprised that this post comes from you who has always been extremely rational and fair in her views and above all someone who comes from a defense background.

Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskaran and the rest of the policemen who died that night were all Maharashtrians.Even the firemen who went around extinguishing fiers set ablaze by the NSG, under fire were Maharashtrians. And may I remind you thats not even part of their job discription. For Mumbai it was the Mumbai police that saved them. The NSG saved TAJ.
Heres a quick recap:
The real heroes of the hour were the Mumbai police,
1)who shot down most of the terrorists in three hrs the the NSG could kill in three days.
2)Faced them with no body armor and antique (.303 although am sure on the model)rifles. While the NSG had their choice of arms right from helicopters to grenade launchers automatic and heavy machine guns. And in the given environment could and did use all of them , unlike in a crowded railway station
3)Protected the citizens when the needed it most, and prevented the death toll from reaching 5000.At the rate at which the NSG operated it would have gone to 50000
4)prevented more civilians from dying,While all that the NSG did was a mop up operation of a situation that was already quarantined for them.A quarantined terrorist is as good as a dead one. After all there is no where else to go.
5)Had the max number of casulties and still fought on under fire.
6) stood in line when people needed them the most.
7)combated the terrorists in a volatile environment, with civilians around, unlike the NSG which combated them in a controlled environment, with no where to run and just dead walls to hit.
8)Fell in the line of fire when they could have simply waited for the ‘Heroes of the day” to save us
Officers like Mr Hemant Karkare and others, are hard to find any where in the world. They spearheaded the operation and instead of making it a defensive one turned it into a pro active one and took the fight to the terrorists.Unlike the NSG which was defensive throughout
I think its outrageous to call the NSG the guys who saved the day, simply because there was no one left to save. Its just std. protocol that prevented the Mumbai police from finishing their job.
I’m not trying to underplay the role of the NSG here, just feel strongly that it was the Mumbai police who saved Mumbaikars at the end of the day, ant it was sheer bravery and courage of the Mumbai police that saved the city.
Spare me the pseudo secularistic diarrhea, you are spreading the same divisional politics that Raj thackeray does just with a mask on.You are trying to feel good and get political milage about a terror situation that Mumbai faced. In essence you are just
mocking us AND ITS NOT FUNNY!.Where does Raj Takhray fit into all this.Hes not a terrorist, not a policeman, not in the army, hell as a politician hes not even in power!
AND YOU ARE NO BETTER THEN HIM
Also you can laugh as much as you like, at the end of the day, its gonna be the Marathi manoos who is gonna decide your next Chief Minister. I would be very careful, if you hurt their sentiments, Raj Takheray is your next CM whether you like it or not

Abhi,
Glad that you commented here. And yes, I somehow knew what your views would be on this. I can only say that you are working yourself up.
Please don’t mind but I am sorry to say your views are irrational. Your very 2nd sentence itself smells of a groupism. “Like all of you” should have been “Like all of us”. Can I ask why this division ?
Alas ! you read only half of SMS ‘THE sons of the soil Army, NSG commandos are not marathis manoos … why should they fight or lay their life for mumbaikars… because they are Indians.” What does the last part say ?
It was clearly an awakening call for Raj T who claims that his marathi manoos are the only ones who can save Mumbai and it’s culture and no one else.
As far as I know, the word ‘marathi manoos’ has not been invented by so called ‘outsiders’. This is used by marathi people themselves especially Raj T & co. So mentioning of this word should not offend anyone.
Do I really HAVE TO tell you I totally agree with you that NSG flew from Delhi only b’coz they were based there ?? See my latest post what I think of NSG. I must say you have gone down beyond my imagination by asking names of the commandos. It wasn’t expected of you. Even if we assume that at any given pt. of time there is no marathi (or Bihari or telugu) in NSG, NSG still belongs to the whole country. Similarly other defense services.
And I do not want to let myself down in my own eyes by questioning how many commandos were from a particular state.
Had the crisis not this big, the commandos would not have come to Mumbai. The Mumbai police was very much capable of fighting it out. I salute the ones who lost their lives. It was the enormity & gravity of the situation that we needed the commandos. Pls note I said ‘we’ not ‘you’… the way I always speak and believe.
But see the context I told you above. It was for general marathi manoos who supports & thinks that they do not need anyone.
but dare you say that North/South Indians saved the city and the Maharashtrians were simply watching the fun…. I laugh at your assumptions.
I can understand your anger against Raj and his men for their attitude and stand against North Indians…No, you do not understand a bit. Because I am equally hurt when a nun is raped in Orissa by some hooligans or a Punjabi soldier is killed in Assam or a Babri masjid is demolished. I do not and can not think of myself belonging to only one state, city or language and cry foul for its upkeep.
And dare you doubt my integrity for my nation or humanity. I do lot more than what a commoner (including you) does for our nation.
I am really surprised that this post comes from you who has always been extremely rational and fair in her views and above all someone who comes from a defense background…. But I am not surprised by your statement, it has only saddened me.

Hemant,
Welcome to my blog and shame !! Shame on you !!
How dare you questioned the role & performance of NSG ? If you were so confident about saving Mumbai, why on hell you let the NSGs in ?
The fact of the life is that the situation was so enormous & grave that Mumbai police alone could not have handled it, that too after losing those brave policemen who laid their precious lives. And for your info, no one is undermining the role & sacrifice of Mumbai police. We applaud their role. It is people like you who twist & misinterpret the things. Your each single statement is no less than Raj T’s.
at the end of the day, it was sheer bravery and courage of the Mumbai police that saved the city… NO, you are wrong ! It was joint effort. Not only Mumbai police and commandos but hotel staff and a commoner also played a role. The city was saved by each one of us who has contributed in any way.
It is people like you who play the game of ‘you’ & ‘me’ and not ‘us’. It is people like you who keep mum when Raj T’s goondas ransack the city instead of thrashing him.
Also you can laugh as much as you like, at the end of the day, its gonna be the Marathi manoos who is gonna decide your next Chief Minister… Shame ! Utter shame. Your statement smells of bullying. I am a non marathi and my vote will equally be counted. Win or no win, I too have a say. And why is this ‘your’ CM and why not ‘our’ CM ?
Thanks for your visit, keep coming. I really like to read different views.

This recent terror strike in South Mumbai has shown very clearly that driving North Indians out of Mumbai does not hold water, the most important issue is to be alert, stop picking holes , bitching etc etc get together and kick the terrorists out..non state actors or Pakistani elements..
Out political maha gurus have to wake up and gear the state machinery to be prepared before they hit our soft underbelly..
they know we fight against ourselves , they know all our weaknesses , let them not get away the next time..

Cuckoo, it is dispicible of you to use 26/11 to take pot shots at Raj Thackeray. Instead of standing united when such an event happens, you too are involving yourself in divisive politics that you (”North Indians”) accuse Raj of doing. And you say you do more for the country than the common man? Indeed, you do! What a joke. hah
We all know how incompetent and biased Indian media is (and with your popular blog, you are a part of this incompetence). I don’t think you’ve heard any of Raj’s speeches (BTW, they are all on youtube - if you understand Marathi that is). Never in any of his speeches does Raj say that “North Indians” should leave Mumbai/Maharashtra. In fact, he never uses the words “North Indian”, nor does he say anything to refer to them in a derogatory way. This “North Indian” vs. Marathi manoos illusion is created by our stupid media to meet their own agenda.
Raj only talks about Biharis who come to Mumbai and start gunda-gardi (which is true). Bahiris also take jobs aways from locals by working for sub-standard wages.
Also, NSG handled the situation quite incompetently, and that’s a fact. I’m not questioning their love of India. But I’m sure American or Israeli security forces would’ve handled the situation better and more quickly. Perhaps, NSG needs more modern training. Given India’s vulnerability to terrorist attacks, NSG needs to be better prepared.
