Aiming High
Ok, the first Twenty20 match against New Zealand has happened and our dreams of conquering yet another match were shattered. We dream too much; day high dreaming it is called. It was somewhat expected but not this way.
Agreed, the weather was too cold, rainy and windy.. .. most of us take time to acclimatize but that does not mean our brains get numb instead of our hands and feet and we try to rain sixes with a strong wind.

As typical of Sehwag, his score was impressive in first 3 balls and that’s it. Gambhir, Yuvi, Rohit Sharma, all were high on confidence and hence they were always looking up the sky and could not keep eyes on ground. Suresh Raina tried to be different.
In the past too it has happened with only him trying to rescue the team.
Vettori had warned us; had some plans and he could execute it to suit him. He has some good, to be watched players out there. Dhoni too plans strategies for his matches but he alone could not have done anything.
Pathan brothers forgot how to bowl with Irfan giving 18 runs in his first over ! Ok, I know we should not look at a bowlers figures in a Twenty20 match but can we look at batting figures then ?
Dhoni will sure pull the reins of his dark horses and they will be under pressure to put up a performance worth their status when they fight again on Friday. I am hopeful of them presenting themselves some good matches.

Hey Cuckoo,
Such things happen sometimes. This was their first match in NZ. I am sure they will do well in the next match. Save such posts after a series has been lost

Tarun,
Thank you.
I had switched off TV when 7 overs were remaining. The writing was on the wall.
Suryansh,
Ha Ha Ha…
Yes, I know it happens and for many of them it’s a first visit to that country. Upar se Dhoni ne bhi kaha “Yahan to Kadaake ki thand pad rahi hai”. That’s why I am so gentle on them.
This team is champion, it knows how to pull thru and hopefully will do the same. And they have a fantastic captain with them. Lekin kabhi-2 thoda kaan kheenchna zaruri hai.
Well, I don’t want the champions to lose a series in this manner. Yes, losing a well fought one is different. And I hope I don’t have to write such posts again.

Firstly, to reach a score of 162 after having lost 4 for 50 odd was commendable. Yes, Indians lost the plot there and ended up thirty runs short. They were definitely trying to hit sixes, as the ground was a small one. Square of the wicket the boundary was just 40 yards, less than even 45 which was around the ground.
It was too small a ground, which is not fit for exciting cricket. It is not fair for the bowlers, as they would get clobbered and even a miss hit also could go for a six. India winning or not winning, personally I would not enjoy the match on such grounds.
Bowling three no balls in a T20 is definitely not on, but Bhajji bowled well and so did matured Zaheer. Raina dropping his anchor down and showing his rear guard action was brilliant in batting with Bhajji.
Some ruthless hitting by the powerful NZ players sealed the match for Indians, but the way without a single practice match the Indians played there first match, giving a good fight, was commendable.
I am petty sure that this brilliant Indian side will definitely bounce back and do well in the series…

Did you see today’s match…thrilling one!!
It seems as if Dhoni is losing his touch with his destructive self…he has somehow evolved into more of a run-gatherer nudging around corners and running heck of a lot. Cudn’t launch himself at all in this match.

Shivanand,
Yes, Indian side is a brilliant side and they’ll sure pull up after these two defeats. The second one was quite close one but yeah, they did some mistakes while batting and hence they were unable to rectify towards the end.
Abhishek,
No, I couldn’t.
Well, I don’t blame him. Someone has to stick to wicket as well. Have you noticed he does so only when the batting order has failed to do so ?
