Musings

Let there be en-LIGHT-enment

I have never heard of such a brilliant idea of family planning. This is what we all should support and do.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, our Health and Family Welfare Minister, has called for the country to redouble its efforts to bring electricity to all of its huge rural population. And he is damn serious about it.
Now, you must be wondering what electricity has got to do with population control.

This is what he says. Read the rest of this entry »

Kaminey !!

Kaminey (Mean or Wretched)

Kaminey, the most loved used word in Hindi vocabulary after ‘Saale’.

And off late I have started liking it. Not the word but songs of Kaminey. I particularly liked the ‘Kaminey’ song. I have utterly fallen for it.

Gulzar never ceases to amaze me. You got to have special sensory organs to fully cherish his words. His each song is so close to simpler things in life which we tend to ignore most of the time.
I feel Vishal Bhardwaj & Gulzar’s combination is Read the rest of this entry »

Good going Mayawati !

Supreme court has declined to stop Mayawati from installing her own statues and the dalit daughter is on its way to make herself a living legend by installing statues all over the state.

The supreme court judgment came as a surprise to me, I did not expect the apex court being so helpless. Tell me you judges, you were not blackmailed and you announced the verdict on your own after weighing the pros & cons.

I love Mayawati’s attitude and her Read the rest of this entry »

Nostalgic Moments - IV

Contd from Part - III

You can read here Part I, Part II and Part-III of this story.

Secured cantonment area, big bungalows, charoN taraf bade bade ped, summer time and horde of friends to play with. What else does a 5-6 year old want ?

Have you ever sat on top of a tent and slid down ? Continuously for hours ? Or collected feathers of peacocks chasing them down ? Named all the monkeys of your neighbourhood after film stars ?
Stolen a feeding bottle of a younger cousin and shot jets of salted water on poor earthworms and even more poorer snails to see them going under cover ?

Oh dear, Barbie dolls and cartoon networks just can not match that outdoor fun.

Pitthhoo, Staapoo, Vish-amrit, Read the rest of this entry »

Dispatches - Terror in Mumbai

I have talked about 26/11 on many of my posts. It was an attack by a group of insane maniacs not only on India but the entire world, seeking attention for their senseless beliefs.

A few days back Britain’s Channel 4 has aired Dan Reed’s documentary on 26/11 terrorist attacks on Mumbai. It contains the inside story and coverage, original CCTV footage, accounts of survivors and police both, testimonies of all involved including Kasab, the lone survivor of that group; telephonic conversations between the conspirators & the gunmen recorded by the Indian intelligence services and lot more.

A sample of conversation.. .. “Throw some grenades, my brother, there’s no Read the rest of this entry »

रिमझिम गिरे सावन ….

Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.
Whoever has said that, said it rightly.

Monsoon has arrived and I am waiting to get drenched at Marine Drive.
Right now it’s difficult to take one full day out of my schedule just to enjoy the rains the way I want to.

This monsoon should bring some changes, some more trips to green Sahyadris and amidst hot Read the rest of this entry »

Passing the Sentence Game #7

I like this game very much. The story builds and mystery unravels with every sentence that is added to it. Absolutely no short cuts. You can not go to the last page to know the end. It’s such fun ! Then don’t know why I take so much time to play a new one.

Anyway, it is never too late to start.  Here is our next game of  “Passing the Sentence”.

Photograph copyright : Cuckoo

As always, I write the first sentence and invite you all to contribute the next sentence, in sequence. The sentence is passed onto the next person to continue and so on.

Leave your sentence as a comment, and I’ll keep updating this post to show you the flow of the story. You can also refer to earlier games to have an idea.

The story is of 20 sentences and this time can we make it a comedy of errors ?

Rules of the game :
1. Anyone can participate in this game.
